You need to have Battlefield 2 Patched to at least 1.4 (the current version at this time).

Changes in 9.0 release info:

VERY IMPORTANT: this has only vanilla bf2 levels included...if you have alot of custom maps installed drag the levels folder
to your desktop and save there for now...install mercs 9.0.......now you need to drag the levels folder from mercs 8.5
that you moved to the desktop and drop it in the mercs mod folder...click yes to overwrite origional files..

if this is your first install all custom maps...this version only comes with vanilla bf2 maps

new load music by Aerosmith...jeannies got a gun
new load cursor
new desktop skull icon
new loadscreen
new textures..vehicles/soldiers

WEAPONS:
weapons now have CPTsniper sounds ver 1.2
m4 recoil reduced
knife count lowered to 3
remington shotgun reloads quicker
m24 sniper rifle has more shells
double zooms removed from weapons
AT mines are now anti personel mines also..dont step on them
artillery now is not fixable after being destroyed
artillery has limited ammo
artillery shoots 2 shells when fired


VEHICLES:
all vehicles have new smoke effect when being destroyed
vehicles have a longer stay time after being destroyed
f-15 bombs are now napalm bombs
jeep faav more armor
humvee more armor
uh60 blackhawk has 4 missles that are anti personel cluster bombs..
humvee now layes mines
UAV more armor
all aircraft and AA tanks have radar...madosga
new jet engine smoke trail...madosga
new jet engine blast...madosga


SOLDIERS:
all bodies stay longer after being killed
assault class new rifle
all merc classes have a second weapon..use either the 6-7-8 keys
sniper has new rifle to start..key 8 for barrett
EU soldier stamina removed
more classes carry a wrench



STATIONARY WEAPONS:
carrier AA gun now more armor
carrier AA gun cools down quicker
carrier AA gun now has new smoke/fire effect when being destroyed


MISSLES:
new napalm bombs added...madosga
new cluster bombs added to uh60...madosga
removed fire trail from stinger missle..
heat seeker missles lock on longer

Changes in 8.0 release:

WEAPONS:
AT Predator now stronger.
AT Predator better explosion effect.
Hand gernades increased from 8 to 10.
Tow missle better explosion effect.
Merc sniper rifles carry explosive tip bullets.
Merc Barret rifle now more powerful.

SOLDIERS: stamina removed.its there but wont move unless you run around for hours. lol

VEHICLES:

AIR:
F35b hover jet has missles changed to mavericks.for tank/light armored vehicles.
Blackhawk pilot now has new weapon to use for aid to ground troops.
Side guns on Blackhawk have better shooting radious. Still a work in progress.

GROUND:
M1a2 tank updated to 1.3 with collision mesh.
New load music added:music by Metallica: And Justice For All.
New 8.0 loadpic by "KIDD"..awesome job.

Changes in 7.75 Patch:

MAPS:
Attack at Sea map included
Attack at sea map has guns on carriers now
Ho chi minh ticket count/textures fixed

WEAPONS:
Jets CTD missle change fixed
New support weapon grenade launcher more effective/more ammo
Grenades now have bigger bang sound

Changes in 7.5 release:
Fixed bug causing crash to desktop after leaving a mercs server and trying to join another.
Fixed missles in Apache chopper

Changes in 7.0 release:

HAND WEAPONS:
All rifles carry more ammo
Sniper rifles have double zoom added
Spec ops rifle has double zoom
Sniper and spec ops pistols are full auto
Shotguns less powerful than 6.0, origional guns replaced
Minigun has new bullet hit effect,larger kill zone

VEHICLES:
All tanks are faster
All tanks disperse land mines with ("X" key)
All APCs now disperse fire bombs with ("X" key)
Humvee disperses health packs (right click)
MG ontop of m1a2 tank now has higher shooting radious
RIB (boat) now a little faster
RIB front gun larger calibur gun
RIB front gun now has higher shooting radious
Uh-60 blackhawk now carries sidewinder missles

EFFECTS:
All missle smoke trails are now black colored

MAPS:
All origional BF2 singleplayer maps have been converted to 64 player size maps by KYSTERAMA and CLIVEWEL....
These have been added and we all thank these two for their hard work..
